Landscape Design Process
Initial Consultation

Design Consultation »Our approach is open and friendly with a goal to incorporate your personal wants and needs into the overall preliminary design process. At our initial meeting, we will talk about your vision and desire for your landscape. During this meeting, we’ll ask questions and even make suggestions so we have a thorough understanding of your vision and what can be done with the budget you have to work with. The initial one hour meeting is done so at no charge. Should you wish to spend additional time in consultation with our specialist we will be happy to provide you with this service at our standard billing rate of $75 per hour.
Design Development
After your approval of the initial concepts and budgets, we will then begin the design process. Depending upon the size of the project, the drawings may take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to completion. Afterwards, a scaled blueprint drawing will be produced showing the details of the proposed work and will be available for review by you at the Design Presentation meeting. Design services are billed at $100 per hour with a minimum of 5 hours. We will discuss these costs and estimated design time with you at the initial consultation. Any payments made for design costs will be credited towards the costs of the project should you contract for our services.
Design Presentation
You will be notified when the project design is completed and ready for your review. For your convenience, we will be happy to present you with the design and its features at your home or, if you prefer, at our Corporate offices in downtown historic Frederick, MD. This will be the time we will go over each phase of the job and the pricing for your entire project. Any changes you would like to make to the initial design may also be discussed and included at this time.
Contract Signing
Once you have agreed to the design and pricing, a formal contract will be given to you to sign. At signing, a 30% deposit will allow us to schedule your project for production. For your convenience, we accept Master Card, Visa, Discover cards as well as your personal check and of course, cash but only with three forms of identity! We promise to work closely with you to ensure meeting any time or money constraints.
Project Implementation
The investment of time and energies in the prior steps helps to result in a smooth project everyone will be satisfied with. Most aspects of your project will be done with our own labor force. In some cases we may use an outside contractor for very specific aspects of the work requiring specialized licensing. In every case, we will be overseeing the entire project and will remain your point of contact.
As work progresses, we will provide you with installment invoices and/or change orders that you may have requested to keep you updated and current with your budget.
Project Completion
Prior to submitting our final invoice, we will schedule a “walk through” with you to go over the project and if need be, develop a punch list of items to address. When the walk through and punch list is complete, final payment will be due.
